Day at the Beach Spinner Card

Stampin' Up! Day at the Beach Stamp Set, Sliding Star Framelits, Spinner Card, Stampin' Studio

Have you ever seen dolphins jumping out of the water?  There’s something about it that just gets you excited, just like when you’ve got something great to celebrate!  I created this spinner card using the Day at The Beach stamp set found on page 34 of the Occasions Catalog and the Sliding Star Framelits from page 192 of the Annual Catalog.

Let’s Take a Closer Look

Using Watercolor Paper and Watercolor Pencils , I lightly colored the sand in Early Espresso, the water in Bermuda Bay and the sky in Pacific Point.  Next I used an Aqua Painter to blend those colors for the background.  After it was dry I used the Sliding Star Framelits to cut the “arch” where the dolphins would jump.  The sentiment comes from the Happy Celebration stamp set.  I stamped  the umbrella and then the dolphin once, masking it and stamping it a second time.  Next I colored these with the Watercolor Pencils too and did a bit of fussy cutting.

Stampin’ Studio Tips

  • Coordination: It wasn’t designed to go together, but I think the dolphins from Day at the Beach and the Sliding Star Framelits are a perfect match.
  • Easy:  I made a sandwich with a penny, two dimensionals, another penny, another dimensional and finally the cut out dolphins.  This “sandwich” was the slid into the “arch”.  As the card is tipped back and forth the dolphins jump and spin.
  • Sizes: Island Indigo card base is 11″ x 4-1/4″ scored at 5-1/2″.  Watercolor Paper is 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Scraps for the Dolphins and Umbrella
