Petite Petals, You Amaze Me

Today I wanted to show you how you can add texture and subtle interest to a card without the usual embossing folder.  Take a close look at the edges of the Soft Sky cardstock; I scored 1/4″ around all four sides to add some interest and “frame” the focal point.  I used the retiring punch called Petite Petals and added some of the Melon Mambo Enamel Shapes to the center of each flower.  The stems are simply very narrow snips of Garden Green cardstock.  I added a band of the Tip Top Taupe Mini Striped Ribbon around the card and added the banner which uses the Banners For You stamp set and the Bunch of Banners Framelits.

Let’s Take a Closer Look

Here you can see on the right side the raised scored mark which continues around the perimeter of the card.  I used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool at the 1/4″ mark.  The flowers and the banner are popped up off the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I love how this adds a bit of shadow from the added dimension.

Stampin’ Studio Tips

Measurements: Whisper White Thick cardstock: 4-1/4″ x 11″, Soft Sky: 5-1/4″ x 4″, Garden Green: scraps for the stems, Whisper White: scraps for the banner and flowers.

Tips: When you use a stamp that fits a framelits image, be sure to stamp the image first, and then die cut it.  It’s much easier to line things up this way rather than cut first then stamp.  Trust me, I know.
