Turning a Negative into a Positive

I think the most common way to use the Little Letters Thinlits is to die cut the letters and use the letters themselves on the project.  This time I decided to use the negative (the left over part of the paper).

So I started out with the Elegant Dots Embossing Folder on Very Vanilla card stock which I attached to the Old Olive card base.  Next I attached a 1 1/4″ strip of the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack.  After die cutting the Y-O-U from the Watermelon Wonder card stock I attached this piece to the card with Dimensionals allowing the Designer Paper to show behind the letters.  I stamped the Wild About Flowers on a piece of Very Vanilla and cut it out with the Project Life Paper Clips Thinlits which has the square with the rounded corners.  The stamped sentiment comes from Crazy About You.

On the Flip Side

Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Paper is beautiful and if you’ve ever paid close attention to the designs you’ll see that one side of the paper has a print or design that is rather bold and would work great for larger projects like scrapbook pages or possible the background of a card.  The “Flip Side” of the paper is generally something with small prints and much more subtle than the first side.

For todays card I used the Market Fresh Designer Series Paper…

…on the flip side.   The patterns coordinate well together.  I used the color palate from the paper for my inks using the Garden in Bloom stamp set.
