Super easy Sympathy card using the New Horizons Designer Paper

When there are birthdays, or weddings or other special occasions, we generally know about them in advance and we are able to plan to make a card for the event.  But when we need a sympathy card, many times there is no advance notice, we need a card and we need it now!  That’s why I created this super easy sympathy card using the New Horizons Designer Paper.

Stampin' Up! Celebrating You stamp set, New Horizons DSP, Sympathy Card, Stampin' Studio

The New Horizons Designer Series Paper comes with 48 sheets of 6″ x 6″ paper, that is truly stunning. The only thing that is stamped on the card is the sentiment from the Celebrating You stamp set. Here’s just a little sampling of the pages in the package.

Stampin' Up! New Horizons DSP Stampin' Studio

I started with a card base of Basic Black and added a piece of Basic White to the inside.  On another piece of Basic White, I used the Simply Score Tool to score lines horizontally on the card stock at 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, 2-1/2″ and 2-3/4″.  I stamped the sentiment in Memento Ink and attached this layer to the card front.  Next I chose a piece of the New Horizons DSP and cut a 3″ x 3″ piece from it and mounted this on a       3-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Basic Black.  These layers were attached to the card with Dimensionals and I finished the card off with a few of the Matte Black Dots.

I am able to get 4 piece of the gorgeous prints from each piece of the New Horizons DSP, so why not create 4 cards at the same time to have on hand when the need arises?

Happy Easter

I want to wish you all a very Happy Easter.  We are looking forward to celebrating the day with my parents and siblings this year.  I created this Easter card using the Celebrating You stamp set and the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper (which unfortunately has now sold out as it was on the last chance list).

Color Combo

I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper for the back ground, then 2 pieces of different prints that measured 2″ x 2″ and mounted these on 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ pieces of Highland Heather. The adorable label was die-cut using the Hippo & Friends die and the sentiment from Celebrating You was stamped in Memento Ink.  I tied a bow with the Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon and added a few of the 2-21-2023 In Color Jewels.  This simple layout would work great for any occasions just by swapping out the Designer Paper and the sentiment.

Welcoming Window Bundle

I’ve been enjoying playing with the Welcoming Window Bundle from the current Annual Catalog.  This is one of the product bundles that is on the Last Chance List (soon to be retiring).  The images are great for making cards for the men or women in your life, and the dies are fabulous.  I love that they cut out the flowers and the flower pots but most of all I love the texture on the windows and all of the different pieces.

Color Combo

I thought since I’m using a soon to be retired stamp set and dies, I would also use some soon to be retiring card stock and ink.  Bumblebee and Misty Moonlight are current In Colors that have been around for 2 years and as with all In Colors, after 2 years, they retire.

You know me…I like layers, texture and embellishments on my cards, so let’s talk about each in regards to this card.  Layers: Misty Moonlight card base + Bumblebee layer that measures 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ + Basic White layer for stamping that measures 4-5/8″ x 3-3/8″.  Texture:  The window frame and the shelf (die-cut from the Window Flower Box Dies) have a wood grain texture and the brick which are stamped in Gray Granite ink give a visual texture even though the images are stamped directly on the card stock.  Embellishments: I added a few of the Brushed Brass Butterflies for a little whimsy and bling.
