For today’s card I used the Special Reason Bundle which includes the Special Reason stamp set and the Stylish Stems Framelits Dies. One of the things I love most about these framelits is that some of the images are designed for us to use the negative image. “What does that mean”, you ask? Well, take a look at the Black-Eyed Susan flower I created on this card. Normally when we die cut we use the piece that is cut out. In this case we are not using what was cut out, but rather what’s left (the negative) after we set aside what we cut out. Get it?
Putting a piece of Crushed Curry card stock behind the negative image brings the flower to life. I also die cut a piece of early Espresso card stock for the center of the flower and popped it up with a small piece of a Stampin’ Dimensional. I did the same type of thing along the bottom edge of the card front by placing a piece of Old Olive card stock behind the stem and leaves, so the negative image pops.
WOULD LOVE MEASUREMENTS
Carol,
I made this card almost 2 years ago, so I don’t recall the actual measurements, but looking at it I’d guess the Early Espresso layer is 3-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ Crushed Curry 3-1/4″ x 3-1/2″ and the Whisper White layer 3″ x 3-1/4. I hope this helps.
