Good Tidings of Great Joy

Today, I’m sharing a Christmas card featuring the classic red and green color combinations and featuring some iconic holly leaves and berries.  It uses the retiring stamp set called Good Tidings.

One of the biggest new trends this year has been the “Eclipse” technique which I have featured on this card.  I started out with a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock which I stamped the leaves in Garden Green ink and the berries in Real Red ink.  The Good Tidings stamp set is a 2-step stamping set which means you stamp the image with two different images to get shadows and depth to the image.  The sentiment also comes from the Good Tiding set, but instead of stamping it with ink, I colored a Real Red Marker directly on to the stamp making sure not to color in the word “joy” on the stamp.  I figured if I stamped the word :joy” my card would end up saying “Good Tidings of Great Joy Joy”.

Are you wondering how I got the popped up word “Joy” on the card?  It’s super simple; after stamping the leaves and berries on the white cardstock, I used the “J”, “O”, and “Y” from the Large Letters Framelits and die cut them directly from my stamped card stock.  I took what was left of the white cardstock and attached it to the Real Red card base with Snail Adhesive.  I then used each of the cut out letters and put them back on the card popping them up with Foam Adhesive Strips.

Great news!

  1. Love this card! The catalog images do not do it justice – sorry I didn’t choose it this year, as it is not being carried over. TFS, Tina.
