Playful Pets Suite

Can I just say how adorable the Playful Pets Suite is?!  It’s a mix of whimsical designer series papers, cute playful images and sentiments in the stamp set and coordinating dies that enable you to create fun projects from a simple card to a stepped up version by using more embellishments and accessories from the suite.  This photo is taken directly from page 40 of the Annual Catalog.

I’ve used the suite to create 2 sweet cards, one for a dog lover and one for a cat lover.  Both of these cards use the same card layout.  I’ve just swapped out the images, colors, and shapes to get a different look for each card.

For the dog card, I started with a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ card base of Real Red.  Next I used the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder to add great texture to the 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White cardstock that was attached to the card front.

The banner was cut from the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper and measures 2 1-1/2″ x 4-3/4″.  Before attaching the banner to the card front, I wrapped a 5″ piece of the Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack to the banner and tied it in a knot.  The grass and sky were painted on a 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ piece of Shimmer White cardstock using the Water Painter and Pear Pizzazz and Pool Party ink.

I stamped the dog and bowl in Stazon ink on Whisper White and colored them in with Stampin’ Blends using Cinnamon Cider light & dark, Real Red dark and Basic Black light.  The Pets Dies were a perfect fit to cut out the dog image which was then attached to the painted layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The dies will also cut some of the images on the designer paper; how great is that?!

The Painted layer was attached to a 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ piece of Basic Black and attached to the card  front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The final touch (which is adorable if I do say so myself) is the metal heart (Playful Pets Trinket) I attached to the dogs collar with a Mini Glue Dot!

The cat card starts with a card base of Crumb Cake with a layer of Flirty Flamingo.  The ribbon on the banner is also from the Playful Pets Trim.  The Bakers Twine is Black and White, so before wrapping it around the banner, I used the light Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend Marker to color the white part of the twine to match the card.

All measurements for this card are the same as the dog card, but instead of having the square focal point, this time I used the Layering Circles Dies on Soft Suede and the Stitched Shapes in Whisper White.  The cat image was fussy cut from the Playful Pets DSP with my Paper Snips and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Before attaching the cat image, I used the Water Painter to paint a bit of Crumb Cake ink over the lower portion of the Stitched Shape Circle.  Once again, as a finishing touch I added a heart shaped trinket to the cats collar.

Here you can see all the product from the Playful Pets Suite.  Don’t you just love it?  So, tell me….which do you like better, the dog card or the cat card?
