I’ve got another sneak peek of the Southern Serenade stamp set I showcased at the Stampin’ Up! “On Stage” event earlier this month.  The images in this stamp set (which can be ordered starting January 4th…or if you purchase the starter kit , you can order it as early as December 1st) is one of the most versatile stamp sets we’ve had in a long time.

I started out with Vellum Cardstock which I heat embossed with VersaMark and White Embossing Powder using the “lacy” image from the Southern Serenade stamp set.  Important Tip:  When heat embossing with Vellum, you must use the Embossing Buddy to remove the static from the cardstock to prevent embossing powder to stick where you don’t want it.  Also keep the Heat Tool moving as Vellum scorches pretty easily.

Inside the Vellum card base I attached another smaller card, so that when the card is closed you can see the inside card through the vellum card.  Now let’s get to all of the details of how to make this card.

Measurements

• Vellum Cardstock:  5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
• Calypso Coral:4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ scored at 3-1/4″ for the inside card and a scrap piece to punch the Pretty Label Punch twice.
• Whisper White: 4-1/4″ x 3 for inside the center card and scrap to punch the Pretty Label Punch once.
• Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper: 4-1/4″ x 3″ for the front of the inside card.
• Calypso Coral Ombre Ribbon: 15″

Supplies

• Southern Serenade stamp set (available January 3rd) (c-145921) (w-145918)
• Cardstock:  Vellum, Calypso Coral,  Whisper White
• Ink: Old Olive, VersaMark,
• Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool Pretty Label Punch, Blender Pen, Heat Tool,
• Stampin’ Write Markers: Old Olive, Calypso Coral
• Pearl Basic Jewels,  Stampin’ Dimensionals

Using the Pretty Labels Punch, I punched out three pieces and cut one of the Calypso Coral pieces in half from side to side.

Stamp the sentiment in Old Olive ink.  Color the flower in Calypso Coral and the leaves in Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers directly onto the red rubber stamp.  “Huff” (breath with your mouth open” on the stamp to moisten the marker ink and stamp on the white label.  Using a clean, un-inked Blender Pen, color the flower and leaf by pulling the stamped marker color to to the center of the image.  This gives a lighter shade of the marker color.

Turn the stamped label over and attached the two “half” pieces to the back, which creates the appearance of layers on the front side.  Attach this layered label to the front of the vellum card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the inside of the front of the card, attach the last piece punched from the Pretty Labels Punch to cover up the dimensionals that show through.

For the “card inside a card” fold the Calypso Coral piece on the score line and attach to the center of the inside of the card.  Next attach a printed Designer Series Paper to the front of the inside card.

For the inside of the inside card, using the same “marker to red rubber” technique used above, stamp the flower on the Whisper White cardstock and attach to the inside of the card.
