Hexagon Hive user tips

This is a card we made at this month’s club and I thought I’d share some tips for using the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die.  If you are cutting designer paper thinlit you can shimmy the point of your piercing tool under an edge and wiggle the DSP loose, but if you are cutting card stock will definitely want to use waxed paper to help get the card stock out of the die.  So the “sandwich” you build on your Big Shot is from bottom to top: Magnetic Platform, Standard Cutting Pad, waxed paper, card stock, Hexagon Hive Thinlit, and another Standard Cutting Pad.  The DSP you see in this card is a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Retro Fresh DSP that is attached to the card behind the Hexagon Hive card stock piece.

So Very Grateful

It’s back… my favorite fold that is.  This is a card we made a club this month featuring So Very Grateful stamp set and some blender pen water coloring.  I think the colors and the lace doily really make this a sweet feminine card.

An Unexpected Use

I always love when I discover an unexpected way to use a product.  That’s what happened when I saw a card with this unique closure.  It’s created by using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  You carefully insert card stock into the punch and shimmy it in as far as it goes and punch the scallop design on both sides of the cardstock.  Next a couple strategically placed score lines and you’ve got the card base ready to embellish.  I’ll see about putting together a step by step photo tutorial for you to follow along.
