Today, I stamped the images from the FREE Sale-a-bration stamp set “Big Day” in Memento Ink on Whisper White card stock and used the Blendailities to shade and highlight the colored images.
Notice the word “Cake”, how it’s darker at the bottom and gets lighter in color at the top? I started with the Darkest of the Crumb Cake Blendabilities and colored just a bit of the bottom of each letter. Next I used the medium Crumb Cake Blendabilites and colored in some more, blending the medium shade into the dark shade on the image. Finally by using the lightest shade of Crumb Cake I colored in the rest of the letters again blending the medium shade into the light shade. I used this same technique on the cake itself. Since cakes are round, the cake would appear lighter in the front where the light would reflect and darker towards the back. To achieve this look I started with the darkest Crumb Cake color on the sides of the cake and went lighter as I approached the center, blending the shades as I went. I then went over the center with the Color Lifter to highlight just a bit more.
