Friday, which was day 3 of our Founder’s Circle trip started out with a trip to the manufacturing plant in Kanab Utah. We were greeted by all of 80 of the employees when we arrived.
I really enjoyed seeing how the different products were made. Here’s how our red rubber stamp sets start out… big long heavy rolls of rubber are cut into chunks about 12″ long.
Peggy tried her hand at the cutting process, it was so much harder to do that the worker made it look.
Nest the rubber pieces get laid on a die and get sent into an over. When they pop out of the oven, they are a big sheet of stamps. Next they get die cut.
Peggy also experienced de cutting the stamps. This sheet of rubber has four stamp sets on it.
Finally the stamp sets are put into the cases with the labels and stickers and are ready to be sent to the distribution center to be packed in your orders.
This is a bin that was filled with all of the trimmings of the red rubber. Hmmm….I wonder what they do with all that rubber?
The rubber is cut up into small chunks and is used in a local park under the playground equipment instead of bark. We stopped at the “rubber park” and got to play around a bit!
On the bus ride back we played Bingo, and I won a prize.
After a relaxing afternoon back at the hotel we loaded up the buses again and headed to Tuacahn which is an amazing outdoor theatre. We saw a live Disney production there at night which was unbelievable. The back drop was the red rock cliffs which also served as part of the stage. At one point they had water rushing down the rocks and it flooded the stage (all planned) so that they could perform part of the river scene from Pocahontas and the underwater adventures from the Little Mermaid. Words can’t even begin to describe how amazing this performance was.
Time to share a little stamping.
I meant to share this yesterday but I forgot. This was my Founder’s Circle swap card.
