I came across this card in my stamp room the other day, and I realize I never shared it. My friend, Nancy Esveld created it using the Beautiful You stamp set found on page 24 of the Occasions catalog. This stamp set is a must have in my opinion. There are so many different techniques that can be done with this set, and the sentiments are great for so many occasions.
Today’s Color Palette
Let’s Take a Closer Look
The Beautiful You stamp set is perfect for the masking technique used on this card. Start out by stamping the dancing woman image using Soft Suede ink on Whisper White cardstock. Using Blushing Bride and Soft Suede ink and a blender pen, water color the image with light and dark shades. Next, to create the moon, punch a 1-1/4″ circle from a post it note at stick it on the Whisper White cardstock over part of the image, where you want the moon to be. Stamp the dancing woman on a post it note and cut it out. You will now place this over the image you’ve water colored. The post-it notes create a “mask” so that you can now color in the sky, water and sand without placing color over the dancing woman or the moon. Using a Sponge Brayer and Blushing Bride ink roll the color over the sky, going over the post-it note moon and the top of the dancing woman. Now do the same thing with Soft Sky ink for the water. The sand is created with Crumb Cake ink and a Stampin’ Sponge. Now carefully remove the post-it notes to reveal the finished piece.
