Earlier this week I held a techniques class featuring different ways to use the Brusho Crystal Colours. Brusho is watercolor ink crystals (actually very fine powder) that you mix with water to make watercolor washes and designs.
Brusho Crystal Colours comes with five containers of colors. We’ve got red, orange yellow, green and blue. There are a variety of ways you can use Brusho and we explored quite a few at my techniques class. This first one uses Bubble Wrap (you know the packing bubble sheets that prevent your Amazon orders from getting crushed, yes, that stuff). All you have to do for this technique is lay out your bubble wrap (on a protected surface) and sprinkle each of the colors in rows across the bubble wrap. I did red, then orange, then yellow and green and finally blue. Sprinkle quite a bit so you can actually see it on the bubble wrap. Next, take a Stampin’ Spritzer and spritz water liberally all over the bubble warp starting at the red side and going towards the blue side. This will allow the colors to gently blend with one another without creating a muddy color. Once you’ve got it good and spritzed, lay your Watercolor Paper directly on the bubble wrap and press the paper into the wrap so that the Watercolor Paper picks up the Brusho colors. Carefully peel the Watercolor Paper off and marvel and your uniquely designed background paper.
To finish this card off I layered the watercolor paper on Basic Black then Whisper White cardstock to give it a nice matted look and then attached it to a card base made of Island Indigo cardstock. I die cut the “Celebrate You” out choice of Basic Black cardstock using the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies (a FREE Sale-a-bration with a $100 order).
One thing to keep in mind when working with Brusho is that even though you use the exact same technique each time, you will end up with varying results. Check out the variety of finished cards everyone created at class.
I’ll be sharing the other cards and techniques using Brusho Crystal Colours over the next week, so be sure to come on back.
