Bird Ballad Suite- Day 1

Last week I held a class that featured the Bird Ballad Suite.  The class featured 4 cards using all of the different elements from the suite:  I adore everything in this suite from the Free As a Bird stamp set, to the Stitched Nested Labels Dies, as well as the Bird Ballad DSP, Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards, Scalloped Lace Trim and the Bird Ballad Trinkets.  These products are gorgeous together but also shine all on their own or when combined with other products.  This week I will be sharing the cards we made at class.  I hope you enjoy them.

For this feminine card, I started with a Thick Very Vanilla card base, then added a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Petal Pink.  Next I attached a 1-3/4″ x 5″ piece of the “floral” Bird Balled Designer Series Paper.  I layered a 2-1/2′ x 3-1/2″ polka dotted piece of the Bird Ballad DSP to a 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ Very Vanilla, then tied the Scalloped Lace Trim into a bow and secured the ends behind the Very Vanilla layer before attaching this to the card front.  The bird image is part of the image that has 4 birds on it.  I stamped it on the Very Vanilla with Memento ink, then cut out the part of the image I wanted with the Stitched Nested Labels Die.  My Stampin’ Blends allowed me to color the image in soft shaded tones.  I used the Old Olive Light & Dark for the leaves, Light Crumb Cake for the branch and Pool Party for the flowers.  To aid in the shading on the bird, i colored his belly with Light Calypso Coral, then took the Light Petal Pink and colored the entire bird, coloring over the belly to help blend the colors.  This was such a quick and easy way to do the shading.  The last bit of coloring was adding Dark Mango Melody to the beak.  Once the coloring was done, i attached the stamped image to another Stitched Nested Label cut from Petal Pink, then popped it off the card with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a thank you sentiment to the lower right corner of the card, but by simply swapping out the sentiment, this card could be used for any occasions from a new baby, to a birthday, to get well and even a sympathy card.  Tomorrow, I’ll share a card that features the Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards along with the Free As a Bird stamp set and some of the Bird Ballad DSP.  See you then!
