My husband is an avid sailor, in fact at one time we had thee sail boats!  When I saw the Come Sail Away Suite, I knew I had to have it.  Not only is it perfect for masculine cards, I plan to use it for some of our travel scrapbooks.

Color Combo

I started out with a crumb Cake card base then layered on some Night of Navy and a couple different prints from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper.  The light house and the sentiment from the Sailing Home stamp set were both stamped in Night of Navy and cut out with the coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies.  The stamp set and Dies are sold separately or at a 10% savings when you purchase the bundle.  Look at the adorable ships wheel die cut, isn’t that awesome.  Did you notice the thin band going across the background?  Its a rope die-cut and it adds the neatest texture to the card.    I finished things off with some of the Come Sail Away Bakers Twine tied to one of the Trinkets which I attached with a Mini Glue Dot.

Perennial Essence Suite

Yay!  Today is the day the new Annual Catalog goes live!  That’s right starting at 1:00 pm Mountain Time we can all start ordering from the new catalog.  Once of the product suites that is getting lots of buzz is the Perennial Essence Suite, so I thought I’d share a quick card that features many of the products from the suite.

Check out the gorgeous Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper I used on the background of the card.  Isn’t it gorgeous?  The soft muted flowers make for such a stunning backdrop.  The stamped layer features the Floral Essence stamp set which I stamped in Blackberry Bliss then used the Aqua Painter to watercolor the flowers.  I stamped another flower image on the new Perennial Essence Vellum cardstock and punched them out with the Perennial Flower Punch.  The Floral Essence stamp set and Perennial Flower Punch are available at a 10% savings when purchase together in the bundle.  I added a little dimension to the vellum flowers by using a bone folder to curl the edges of the petals up.  This vellum is 12″ x 12″ and comes in a package of Old Olive, Petal Pink and So Saffron Vellum.  Take a close look at the center of the vellum flowers….we’ve got fuzzy little flower centers called Perennial Essence Floral Centers that have adhesive backing and come 18 pieces to a package.

It Starts With Art

Hello friends, I’m back!  I haven’t been posting much over the past month as things have been crazy here, with wedding plans and bridal dress shopping and a remodel of our main bathroom and laundry room.  On top of that my computer mouse stopped working and I don’t do well with the finger pad on my laptop.  I finally just got a new mouse, so now I’m good to go.  I’ve been spending lots of time in my Stampin’ Studio playing with new product and designing cards for a big demonstrator event on Saturday as well as planning for my June classes.

We’re doing a little Sneak Peak with a few new products from the Annual Catalog which can be ordered from starting tomorrow, June 4th at 12:00 Mountain Time.  I thought I’d start out with the stamp set called It Starts With Art.  I created this fun “Missing Middle” card.

It Starts With art stamp set, Follow Your Art DSP, Stampin' Studio

I got my color inspiration from the fun Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper and used Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral.  The Missing Middle Fun Fold is super easy to do and is always a winner at my classes and parties.

Measurements: 

  • Coastal Cabana: card base: 4-1/4″ x 7-1/2″ score at 5-1/2. for bottom piece of card front: 4-1/4″ x 2″
  • Whisper White: for inside card: 4″ x 5-1/4″.  for piece to stamp on: 2-1/2″ x 3″
  • Calypso Coral: For mat behind stamped piece: 2-3/4″ x 3-1/4″
  • Follow Your Art DSP: 2 pieces that measure 4″ x 1-3/4″
  • Bermuda Bay Mini Striped Ribbon: 8″

Instructions:

  • Stamp ribbon images and sentiment on small Whisper White cardstock with Memento Ink and color in with Stampin’ Blends: Calypso Coral Light & Dark, Bermuda Bay Light & Dark, Daffodil Delight Light & Dark
  • Tie Bow with Bermuda Bay Ribbon and attach to the Whisper White stamped piece
  • Mount stamped piece on Calypso Coral cardstock.
  • Attach large Whisper White piece to inside of card.
  • Attach DSP to top flap of card and lower edge piece of Coastal Cabana.
  • Lay lower Coastal Cabana piece on lower edge of card so that it’s flush with the bottom edge of card.
  • Place Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back four corners of the Calypso Coral piece and center this piece on the card front so that the top two Dimensionals stick to the top flap and the two lower Dimensionals stick to the lower piece.
  • Ta-da, you’re done!
