Wood Textures Designer Paper: The Ultimate Masculine Paper

I don’t know which brilliant concept artist came up with the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper 2 years ago, but boy, did they hit the nail on the head!  This pack of 6″ x 6″ paper comes with 48 sheets of 12 double sided designs of various wood tones and styles.  I’m so sad to see this paper on the retiring product list.  I think, if I had to pick one product that I’m saddest to see go, it would have to be the Wood Textures DSP.

I went back to my archives and found a few of my favorite projects that feature the Wood Textures DSP.  For this card I used the One Wild Ride stamp set (which is also retiring) and stamped directly on the Wood Textures DSP.

For this second card I used the Tailored Tag punch and many of the different wood grain prints and created a bit of a mosaic pattern.

But wait, the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper isn’t just for masculine projects.  I created this feminine card by stamping the Southern Serenade stamp set (also on the retiring list) on the DSP with Memento black ink and colored the flowers with Stampin’ Blends.

I just can’t say enough about this paper other than you really need to get it before it’s gone for good.

Farewell Old Friend: Lovely as a Tree

Ladies and gentlemen, Stampin’ Up! and the rest of us are finally saying good bye to Lovely as a Tree.  This stamp set was released in 2001 and after 18 years, it’s leaving us for good.  I must confess, when I joined Stampin’ Up! in 2003 and first saw this stamp set, I called it “Ugly as a Tree”.  I know, I know, that’s very rude, but it just didn’t speak to me.  There were so many other stamp sets that were calling my name, so I ignored it….

….until….I stated seeing samples created with it.  This stamp set more than any other in the history of Stampin’ Up! is the “GO TO” set for stunning techniques and simple stamping.  It’s fool proof for beginning stampers, and a comfort for the casual stamper and amazing for the avid stamper.  I looked through boxes and files for some of my card samples using Lovely as a Tree and couldn’t find a single one, so I googled it and came up with some stunning creations made by others.  I am not taking credit for any of these, I just wanted to share all it’s lovely-ness with you.

Honestly, this is as simple as it gets…paper, stamps and ink.
