My favorite cards to make are birthday cards, and I guess that’s because everyone has a birthday, so everyone deserves a birthday card, right?  Now that the Cake Builder Punch is back in stock and the Piece of Cake Bundle can be ordered, I thought this is the perfect time to share this card.

Color Combo

I pulled my color combination from the All My Love Designer Series Paper.  In the Occasions Catalog, this paper is paired with Valentines and hearts, but don’t let that limit you on the versatility of this gorgeous paper.  The banner was made with the Banner Triple Punch.  The print I chose is rather feminine with the flowers and all, so I wanted to add some more feminine touches to the card.  I add texture with the Quilt Top Embossing Folder and chose the cake image with flowers on it so I could coordinate it with the DSP.  The cake and platter were both stamped in Memento Ink and colored in with Stampin’ Blends.  No fussy cutting needed for this card now that we have the Cake Builder Punch.  It cuts out the cake and the platter!  I added a Whisper White circle cut from the Layering Circle Framelits and stamped the candles and sentiment also from the Piece of Cake stamp set.  The cake and platter were both popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  
Because the card base is Soft Suede it would be hard to read the inside of the card, so I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock to the inside , then added a border to the bottom with a 1″ x 4″ piece of the same Designer Series Paper.

Humming Along

I like to have Get Well cards on hand because it seems like I never find the time to make one when someone is ill.  This card created with the Humming Along stamp set is a great one to make a batch of to have on hand when I need them.

Color Combo

 I stamped the image in Memento Ink and used light and dark Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends for the flower and light and dark Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends for the stem and leaf and dark Pineapple Punch Stampin’ Blends for the stamen.  I wanted a pop of black so I added a bow from the Basic Black Satin Ribbon to the Whisper White layer, then added a mat of Basic Black behind the white layer.  The Rectangle Stitched Framelit cut from Coastal Cabana cardstock makes such a pretty focal point to add the sentiment and the flower to.  After attaching these layers to the Coastal Cabana card front, I finished it off with a few Pearls.

Life is Grand

Yesterday I boxed up all my Sale-a-bration products which was kind of sad, but that means I can see more of the current stamp sets and accessories from the Occasions catalog and the Annual catalog.  I’ve been focusing so much on Sale-a-bration products lately that I kind of forgot about the fun stuff in the other catalogs.

The Life is Grand stamp set is one that I just adore.  I love the sentiments and the pretty fonts.  The size of the sentiments means you don’t need to have a whole lot of anything else going on.

Measurements: 

  • Whisper White Thick: 4-1/4″ x 11″ score at 5-1/2″
  • Petal Pink: 2-1/4” x 5-1/4” and 3-3/4” x 2-3/4” for oval
  • Calypso Coral: 3” x 4”
  • Whisper White: 2-3/4” x 3-3/4” and 3-1/2” x 2-1/2” for oval
  • Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper: 2” x 5”
  • Petal Pink/Whisper White 5/8” Variegated Ribbon: 10”

Instructions:

  • Fold large Whisper White cardstock on score line for card base.
  • Attach Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper to 2-1/4” x 5-1/4” piece of Petal Pink cardstock with Snail Adhesive and attach to the front left side of card front with Snail.
  • Run 2-3/4” x 3-3/4” piece of Whisper White cardstock through Big Shot with the Petal Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
  • Attach embossed piece to Calypso Coral piece with Snail, then attach to card front with Snail.
  • Stamp sentiment from Life is Grand in Calypso Coral Ink on 3-1/2” x 2-1/2” piece of Whisper White cardstock.
  • Use largest oval in the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut out sentiment.
  • Cut oval from the 3-3/4” x 2-3/4” piece of Petal Pink cardstock using the second from the largest Layer Ovals Framelits.
  • Attach sentiment to Petal Pink oval with Snail.
  • Attach sentiment layers to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Tie a bow with the Petal Pink/Whisper White 5/8” Variegated Ribbon and attach to the card front with mini Glue Dots
  • Attach 3 Calypso Coral Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots to the lower edge of card front.
