Paper Piecing Technique with Timeless Tags Thinlits Dies

Stampin' Up! Timeless Tags Thinlits, Paper Pieceing Technique, That's the Tag stamp set, That's the Tag Bundle, Birthday Card, Stampin' StudioToday’s card features one of the my favorite items in the  Occasions Catalog, and that’s the the Timeless Tags Thinlits Dies, shown on page 23.  Check it out!  It cuts out oval shaped tags with some fascinating intricate details that can be added.  For this card  I used the flower framelit and decided to do some paper piecing so that the details of it can really shine.  Sticking with the flower theme I added texture to the background with the Petal Burst Embossing Folder

Using the Flower die from the Timeless Tags Thinlits Dies, I cut the image four different times.  First in Early Espresso, using just the outlined “flower frame”.  I attached this to the Soft Sky Banner with the Fine-Tipped Glue Pen.  Next I cut it out in Pear Pizzazz saving just the leaves and stem, which I adhered to the corresponding spot inside the “flower frame with the glue pen.  I did the same thing with the Crushed Curry flower center and the Whisper White petals.  The Soft Sky pieces were not pieced in to the flower frame.  Instead I let the blue from the banner show through.  I’ll admit, this card was putzy but I love how it turned out.

Stampin’ Studio Tips

Have you seen the Birthday Blast Bundle shown on page 11 of the Occasions Catalog?  Check it out!  It makes some amazing cards and projects!  The Birthday Blast stamp set has sentiments that have a beautiful script font as well as a bold font and a killer star burst image.  Look closely at the starburst image as I stamped it tone on tone behind the Silver Foil die cut star burst for a subtle look.  The Star Blast Edgelits Dies are also part of the bundle and it has three different dies in the set.  My absolute favorite is the star burst die that I used here.  Isn’t it festive?

Check out the exquisite detail of the Star Blast Edgelit.  One pass through the Big Shot you’ve got the straight crisp edge as well as the bursts and curly-que stars.  The use of the Silver Foil Paper makes the burst look festive and elegant at the same time.  Did you notice the small stars above the “burst”.  Those were the cut pieces that came from the die itself, so I just attached these to the card with Mini Glue Dots.
