Three Important Elements in a Card

Love & Affection

If you’ve been following my blog for a while I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about the three important elements in a card.  They are Layers, Texture and an Embellishment.  This card featuring the Love & Affection stamp set hits on all three of those important elements.  The layers of card stock are easy to see but look closer… the flowers are layered as well.  Next, let’s talk about the texture on this card.  We can find this in a few different places; The Floral Affection Embossing Folder, curling up a few of the flower petals which were stamped on the Affectionately Yours DSP, and the softness of the ribbon.  Finally the embellishment on this card is the Mint Macaron Sheer Linen Ribbon.  I know you’re wonder what die I used to cut the flowers out with…I used my paper snips and did a bit of fussy cutting.  Sometimes a card is worth fussy cutting.

I’m taking a break from stamping today in celebration of the 4th of July.  My friend Dorothy posted this photo on her Facebook Page and since this is the skyline of Madison, the capital of my state I thought I’d share it with you today.  Here’s to a wonderful Independence Day to all of you.  I’ll be back tomorrow to share some more inspiration.
