The fourth project for our Fall Fest Retreat was this fun piece of framed . For this project I used the Watercolor Winter Simply Created Card Kit in a very unexpected way. The kit is shown on page 37 of the Holiday Catalog and has photos and directions for making 5 different cards. I started out with an 8″ x 8″ piece of Pool Party card stock which I stamped a “splattered” image from Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. This gave the appearance of falling snow. WE used the large vellum snowflake, the banner, letters, trees, and sled from the card kit. I even used the Woodgrain textured card stock to build the fence. For this project everyone received our Multi Purpose Glue as well as the All is Calm Snowflake Embellishment and the shadow box frame to display their creation. This project was a definite hit.
After this project was finished we held our card contest and swap for those that chose to participate. The rules for the contest were they could design any card they wanted to but it had to use Stampin’ Up! product and had to have at least one layer and one embellishment.
Colleen K (on the right) won first place and won the Gift Box Punch Board while Sue D. earned second place and won the Project Life Holiday Cheer stamp set.
This was Colleen’s winning card. It is stunning in person, and yes, I will be posting a tutorial on how she did it in a week or so.
And this gorgeous card was Sue’s 2nd pace entry.
I must say we had some beautiful cards to vote on and I will be featuring those cards in the future (you’ll be impressed).
Come back tomorrow for the final details and project from Fall Fest 2014.
