Create your own plaid with Swinking Technique

I wanted to share a fun technique where you can create your own custom plaid.  It’s called Swinking and there are a few different ways to swink.  I will be sharing three different ways to swink in my next few blog posts, but first of all, I need to explain where the term swinking comes from; combine the words swipe & inking and you get “Swinking.”

Color Combo

I started creating my own custom plaid with a piece of Basic White card stock and the Classic Stampin’ Spot Assortment, using the Coastal cabana and Flirty Flamingo Inks.

With the card stock on a scrap piece paper (so as to not get ink on my counter) I held the cardstock in place and swiped the ink or swinked the Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Spot across the card stock horizontally, then used the Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Spot and swiinked it vertically and TaDa…I’ve got a plaid print in the colors of my choosing.  To finish off the card, I adhered the plaid to a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Flirty Flamingo, then attached this to a Coastal Cabana card base that measures 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2 (scored and folded at 4-1/4″).  I used the Sending Smiles Bundle for the sentiment and banner as well as the die-cut word.  The sentiment was stamped on the Flirty Flamingo banner with Memento Ink then attached to the card with Dimensionals.  The die-cut word was attached with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  I love how easy this was to do and the fact that I was able to customize with the colors I wanted.
