Navy & White Snow is Glistening

While shades of red and green are my go to colors for Christmas, Night of Navy and Whisper White with a bit of Silver Foil are my favorite combination when it comes to snow flake cards.  I used the limited edition Snow is Glistening stamp set and the coordinating Snowfall Thinlits for this stunning card.

Color Combo

I started with a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Night of Navy folded in half.  Next I added a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White to the front as well as the inside of the card.  The Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder on the    3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ layer of Night of Navy provided the texture I was looking for.  Next I stamped the snowflakes in Whisper White Craft Ink on the 2″ x 4″ Night of Navy which I then matted with 2-1/8″ x 4-1/8″ Whisper White.  I love the crisp classic look of the Navy and White.  The Navy Gingham Ribbon tied in a bow adds a soft visual to the card.

Finally, the extra special part of the card…the double layered very detailed snow flake.  I cut the first layer using the Snowfall Thinlits with the Whisper White Velvet Paper which was part of the Snowflake Showplace Exclusive Products (and is now sold out).  You could easily substitute Whisper White, Shimmer White or the Sparkle Glimmer Paper for the Velvet Paper.  I used Silver Foil Sheets to die cut the second layer and attached these to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional under the center of each snowflake to give it added depth.  The sentiment, also from the Snow is Glistening stamp set was stamped in Night of Navy and die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits and added to the center of the snowflake.

I wanted to share with you some information that the Stampin’ Up! home office just shared with all demonstrators regarding some Holiday Catalog Merchandise, so that’ you’d be aware and could plan accordingly.

There is always a risk of products selling out without enough time to reorder and restock inventory before a catalog lifecycle is over. When this does happen, it is usually caused by a higher-than-forecasted demand. However, as we upgraded our inventory management system, there were system communication issues with the current holiday catalog and we have just determined that several products are at high risk of early depletion.

We want to share the list of products with you now so you can plan accordingly for the coming weeks. We have also indicated with an asterisk which of these products will carry over into a future catalog. Although we don’t normally share this information so early, we feel it will be useful as you update your plans for the remainder of this catalog.

We don’t know when these products will go out of stock, but it’s possible some may run out as early as next week. Watch the Inventory Status Report for inventory information on these and other products.

This information may create an even higher demand on many of these items, but we feel it’s better to let you know now so you can adapt your plans. Also, even though the upcoming Online Extravaganza sale does not apply to holiday catalog products, it is possible the promotion will have an effect on inventory depletion (as additional non-sale items are often added to promotion orders).

We are working to fix the system communication errors to avoid similar problems in the future. Thank you for your patience.

Retro Christmas with the Snow is Glistening stamp set

I generally tend to go with shades of red and green for Christmas cards, but something about the Christmas tree in the Snow is Glistening stamp set made me think retro and this is the card I came up with.

Today’s Color Combo

 I created this z-fold card by starting out with a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Lemon Lime Twist card stock which I scored at 4-1/4″ from one end and 2-1/8″ from the other.  The front flap is a 2-1/2″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White layered on a 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Bermuda Bay.  I stamped the tree in Lemon Lime Twist and cut it out by hand before sponging the edges of the tree with more Lemon Lime Twist.  Next I added small strips of ribbon to give it a cohesive look, then I popped this off the front panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The “ornaments” on the tree are Pearl Jewels that I colored with the blunt end of the Dark Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends.  I also colored the rhinestone in the center of the Snowflake Trinket that adorns the top of the tree.  I attached it with a glue dot.  The pretty sentiment and the snowflakes on the inside panel are also from the Snow is Glistening stamp set.
