I created this fun Z-Fold card using some of the products from the Holiday catalog.  The sentiments and the cattail image both come from the Country Home stamp set, while the assortment of printed papers all come from the Country Lane Designer Series Papers. I love how each of the prints plays off the other…so much fun.

How was the Dashing Along Designer Series Paper created?

To create the exclusive Dashing Along Designer Series Paper, Stampin’ Up! used a mix of old favorites and new patterns to bring you beautiful, traditional Christmas paper. This collection of patterns has an eclectic feel and is perfect for layering, and while the newsprint design isn’t Christmas-themed, it was selected for its versatility and popularity with paper-crafters.

Here are a few samples, Stampin’ Up! artists designed, that use the Dashing Along Designer Series Paper as well as the Dashing Deer stamp set & Detailed Deer Thinlits featured on page 9 of the new Holiday Catalog (which goes live on September 5th–that’s tomorrow!)

Big Shot Embossing Mats & May Flower Framelits

Today is the fourth and final day featuring cards made with the Big Shot Embossing Mats.  This card was the class favorite and it features the May Flowers Framelits as well as lots of other added texture.

Before we get to the embossed flower, let’s talk about the rest of the card.  I used Petal Pink for the card base and cut it 5-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″.  Next I ran the front of the card through the Big Shot with the Tufted Embossing Folder.  I added a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock to the inside of the card.  Notice the edges of the Very Vanilla; I scored 1/4″ from all edges for a bit more interest.  I did the same to the 3″ x 3″ piece of Very Vanilla on the front panel which is attached to a 3-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Gray Granite cardstock.

Okay, now let’s talk about how I did the embossing of the flower.  As with the other cards I created with the Big Shot Embossing Mats, I started with the Big Shot Platform (no Thin Die Adapter), followed by a clear Standard Cutting Pad.  Next I placed the flower from the May Flowers Framelits on the Clear Cutting Pad with the cutting edge facing up, and then placed my Petal Pink cardstock on top of the die.  Finally I placed the Thick Silicone Rubber Mat (gray) followed by the White Impressions Pad.  Generally I’d use the Thin Silicone Rubber Mat (blue) but I wanted some really deep texture with the flower.

Once I had the flower embossed I did a little fussy cutting and then inked up a Sponge Dauber with Petal Pink ink and rubbed it over the flower petals for a little more depth and definition.  So, what do you think of the Big Shot Embossing Mats and the amazing way they can add more versatility to your framelits?
