I had my Nature’s Poem Suite Escape class last night.  The class featured all of the products in the Nature’s Poem suite including the Rooted in Nature stamp set I used for this card.  I love the clean and simple lines of this card.  I think it would make a beautiful Sympathy card or thank you card.

Color Combination

I started with a card base of Whisper White, then added a layer of Blackberry Bliss and another Whisper White layer for the stamping.  I created the blended oval background by cutting an oval from a scrap piece of cardstock with the Layering Ovals Framelits.  I laid this mask over my Whisper White piece and sponged on color with Sponge Daubers in Blackberry Bliss, Pumpkin Pie and Mossy Meadow creating the look of a sunset.  Once I removed the mask I stamped the tree from Rooted in Nature in Mossy Meadow ink over the blended oval background.

I added the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink then unraveled a piece of the Blackberry Bliss Nature’s Twine.  Once the twine was unraveled, I tied a knot in the twine and wrapped it around the Whisper White cardstock and attached a Leaves Trinket with a Mini Glue Dot.

Lilypad Lake & Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper

This card makes me long for sailing.  We have been sailing for over 10 years now and we absolutely love it, but this year, whenever we have the time to get out it’s either raining or there is no wind.  So sad, but I still think of sailing often and I know one of these days the stars will align and we’ll be able to get out there.

Stampin' Up!, Lilypad Lake stamp set,

I stamped the boats from the Lilypad Lake stamp set inside the Swirly Frames stamp set.  I then used a Blender Pen to add color for the water and the boats.  The sentiment stamp says” Thinking of you with loving thoughts and prayers” but I only stamped a “thinking of you”  by using the Night of Navy marker and coloring directly on the stamp only the words I wanted.  Then I stamped it on the circle image and layered the circle on the Night of Navy Scallop Circle.

I used 2 different patterns from the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper.  For me, when I first looked at the paper in the catalog, it said “Baby” to me, but when you look at each print individually it is very suitable for many things.  I chose the one print because it looked like “waves” to me.  The other print looks like the sky at night with light whisper clouds and stars.  I then added a few of the Twinkle Adhesive Backed Sequins.  All of this on a background of Whisper White which has added texture once I ran it through the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder.

Become a Creative Genius!

Don’t you love it, when you can create depth in a stamped image?  I do, and that’s what I really love about the Abstract Impressions stamp set.  It makes you look like a creative genius!  This stamp set has 21 images that include sentiments as well as floral and nature images and the depth is created with the Two-Step (or Three-Step) stamping by layering one image on top of another image.

I stamped the flower by using all 3 floral images and Melon Mambo Ink.  The first image (with the thickest lines) was stamped off twice before stamping on Whisper White.  Next up was the medium lined floral image which was stamped off once before being stamped directly on top of the first image.  Finally the thin lined floral image was stamped full strength on top of the first two images.  I finished the flower off with Shaded Spruce leaves that were stamped off once.
