You remember Bob Ross.  He’s the soft-spoken guy painting happy clouds, mountains and trees on TV, using big house painting-type brushes and cooing smoothly “you can do it” to the audience. His Joy of Painting program is the most recognized, most watched TV art show in history.  If Bob was “painting”  with stamps today, I believe he would really love the Waterfront stamp set.  The images in the Waterfront stamp set mimic watercolor painting and they make creating gorgeous scenery a snap.

I stamped the images on Soft Sky cardstock using Wisteria Wonder for the majestic mountain, Old Olive for the lush land and pines, and Marina Mist and Island Indigo for the water.  I brought it all together by matting the “art work” in the same colors as the ink colors I used.  The Old Olive card base is cut 4-1/4″ x 11″ and is scored at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″ and folded in a “Z-fold”.  I added texture to the front panel with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder.

At first look the Myths & Magic Suite looks like it’s geared for little kids, but look again…the different components of the suit are perfect for any age and any gender.

I kept this card pretty simple, but that doesn’t mean boring.  A simple Thick Whisper White Card base with a layer of Bermuda Bay and another piece of Whisper White set the stage.  Next I added three strips of the Myths & Magic Specialty Washi Tape which is gorgeous and festive with sparkle and shine and stars, you’ve got to love that!  Next I used a sentiment from the Magical Day stamp set but I omitted the word “Magical” from the stamp by coloring the sentiment with Basic Black Marker.  The glimmering “amazing” script is is die-cut from the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper using the Sale-a-bration Celebrate You Thinlits Dies.  I stamped tiny little star bursts from the Magical Day stamp set in Smoky Slate and finished it off with Rhinestone Basic Jewels which I colored with a Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends Marker.

This is the perfect Masculine Card!

I hear it over and over again that you’re all struggling with making masculine looking cards.  Over the years there have been plenty of stamp sets suitable for the men in our lives.  There have been sports related images, nature and outdoorsy images, tools and cars and grilling and on an on, but I still hear it’s difficult to make a masculine card.  Well, your wait is over, because this card with rich wood tones, and geometric shapes will work for any guy.

I used the Wood Texture Designer Series Paper Stack from the Annual catalog and punched out various prints using the Tailored Tag Punch featured in the Occasions catalog.  Then I pretended I was laying tile and I left a little space between all of the “wood tiles” for the “grout” (which is nothing more than the Early Espresso cardstock showing between my “tiles”.  Here’s how to make it easier yet.  The card base is 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4.  I then used a 4″ x 5-1/5″ piece of Early Espresso that I attached all of my “tiles” onto.  Any “tile” that extended beyond the 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of cardstock got trimmed off.  Once I had the 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Early espresso covered with “tiles”  I wrapped a piece of Linen Thread around this layer a couple times securing the end to the back.  After attaching this to the card base, I tied a triple bow from another piece of Linen Thread and attached it to the front of the card with a Mini Glue Dot. I stamped the sentiment from the Lemon Zest stamp set in Early Espresso on one of the lighter colored wood texture prints.  The finishing touch was to add a few pearls that I colored with the Bronze Stampin’ Blends Marker.  There you have it, the perfect masculine card for any guy in your life.
