Stampin' Up! Flourishing Phrases stamp set, Sympathy Card, Stampin' Studio

I held a class this week where we made Sympathy cards and Get well cards, because you never know when you’re going to need them and it’s good to have some on hand.  We created this beauty using the Flourishing Phrases stamp set, one ink  pad and a blender pen.  I so adore the Night of Navy and Whisper White color combination.

Let’s Take a Closer Look

Normally, when you use a Blender Pen with ink, you pick up some ink on the tip of your Blender Pen and color it around to fill in the area of your choice.  For this card, I stamping the image in Night of Navy ink and then colored the flowers with a Blender Pen without picking up any ink.  Simply by coloring the Blender Pen over the stamped image, the pen picks up a bit of the ink that was stamped and allows you to spread that color where you want it.  It gives us a lighter shade of the Night of Navy.  Pretty cool, right?

Stampin’ Studio Tips

Measurements: Night of Navy: 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″, 3″ x 4″, and 1″ x 2-1/4″   Whisper White: 4″ x 5-1/4″, 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″, and 7/8″ x 2-1/8″

Tip: The trick to balance on a card is to allow the eyes to travel around the card in a triangle.  In this triangle is the sentiment and the two rows of rhinestones.  It’s a great way to create balance.

Stampin’ Studio Tips

Measurements: Very Vanilla: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″, 3-3/4″ x 1-7/8″ and scrap for Oval.  Bermuda Bay: 5-3/8″x 4-1/8″ Early Espresso: 4-3/4″ x 3-1/8, 5/8″ x 4-1/8″ and scrap for Oval, Cupcakes & Carousels DSP: 4-5/8″ x 3″ and 3-5/8″ x 1-3/4″

Tip: Wrap a ew pieces of linen thread around the Burlap Ribbon and tie in a knot for a bit of added interest.

Stampin’ Studio Tips

Cutting Measurements:
⦁ Old Olive: 5 ½ x 8 ½ “, 3 ¼ x 3 ¼”
⦁ Whisper White CS: 4 x 5 ¼ ”; 3 x 3”; ½ x 3 ¼ “; scrap for stamping leaves and apples
⦁ Affectionately Yours Designer Series Paper: 2 pieces 1 ¼ x 4”

Instructions:
⦁ Stamp smaller egg and leaf image several times in black archival ink on a scrap piece of whisper white paper. Using Watermelon Wonder ink and aqua painter – color the eggs to create apples. Do the same with leafs using Old Olive ink. Die cut with thinlits. Die cut 2 different basket shapes from Tip Top Taupe.
⦁ Stamp a grass in old olive on 3 x 3 piece of whisper white. Adhere to old olive piece. Add apples and leaves to the top. Adhere the basket shape (the one with the holes) on top of solid basket. Adhere basket with dimensionals over the apples. Set aside.
⦁ Randomly stamp leaves in old olive in a center part of 4 x 5 ¼ piece of whisper white. Lightly color them with aqua painter and old olive ink. Adhere designer paper to the top and bottom of whisper white piece.
⦁ Create a card by scoring Old olive cardstock at 4 ¼. Adhere piece from step 3 to the card front
⦁ Adhere piece from step 2 (with basket) to the center of the card with dimensionals
⦁ Stamp sentiment on whisper white strip in Watermelon wonder ink. Adhere to the bottom of the card. Embellish with pearls.
⦁ Tie a bow from linen thread and add to the basket with glue dot.
