Stampin’ Sisters Retreat has begun!

Stampin' Sisters retreat

Yesterday was day one of our Stampin’ Sisters Retreat.  This is the 10th year Peggy and I have held the retreat and all I can say is it’s always a great time.

Stampin' Sisters Retreat

Our theme was a birthday party to go along with the fact that the retreat is 10 years old.  I created this paper cake which has 60 pieces of cake filled with candy.  It was time consuming but I was very happy with the way it turned out.

Everyone got a gift box tied up with ribbon and in it was…

all of the card stock and ribbon they needed for the 8 class projects we’ll be making all weekend long, as well as lot’s of other goodies.  Tomorrow we’ll be working on 6 more projects throughout the day as well as having a card contest and swapping and playing games and giving away more prizes and ….well…just having a great time.  Be sure to come back tomorrow when I share more of the fun  of retreat!

A jumping off point

Do you ever sit down to stamp and nothing comes to you?  So, what do you do?  One easy way to get started is by getting inspiration from a sample in the catalog.  That’s what my team mate Lorri Nastala did for today’s featured card.

Apple of My Eye

Check out page 47 of the Occasions catalog.  The tag on Lorri’s card is just like the sample card in the catalog.  The tag was made using the Ornate Tag Topper and some Black Bakers Twine and it uses the Apple of My Eye stamp set for the sentiment and the cherries.  From there Lorri’s creation is her own in that she used a Real Red card base and added the Tea Lace Paper Doily for texture.  So keep in mind when you’re struggling with coming up with an idea, pull out the catalogs and let that be your jumping off point.

For You My Deer

Looking for a simple masculine card?  Well this is it!
I cut out an oval with the Ovals Collection Framelits, set aside the cut out oval for another project and used the framed piece as a mask for sponging.  I laid the mask over the piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock and sponged Soft Suede Ink into the open oval area.  Once I removed the mask I stamped the image and sentiment from In The Meadow and attached the card stock to a card base of Soft Suede and I was done.
