Perennial Essence Designer Paper: Love it Chop it

Last November I did a One Sheet Wonder card class that was a big hit.  I then posted the template and cards I created with the One Sheet Wonder on my blog.  You can see the post HERE.  After posting the cards to Pinterest, I can tell you with out a doubt, that people LOVE One Sheet Wonder Templates and the ease of creating cards with them.  With that in mind, I held a Love it Chop it Card Class that featured the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper.

What is Love it Chop it you ask?  Well, it is the brainchild of fellow demonstrator Kylie BertucciRecognizing that many of us love the designer papers so much, we don’t want to cut them up and use them.  Kylie says, “Stop hoarding your paper.  If you love it, then chop it!”

The idea behind Love it Chop it, is to take your 12″ x 12″ designer paper and cop it into 4″ x 5-1/4″ pieces and store them inside our empty stamp cases.  When you’re ready to create, you pull out a 4″ x 5-1/5″ piece of DSP and you’re ready to go!  In the photo above you can see that I used the Perennial Essence DSP with  the Love it Chop it theory and created 12 beautiful cards.

Here’s a rough looking template I created so that you have a visual.  I started by cutting horizontally at 5-1/4″ and again at 10-1/2″.  This gives me two pieces that measure 12″ wide by 5-1/4″ high plus a long strip that measures 12″ x 1-1/2″.  From here, I cut each 12″ x 5-1/4″ strip at 4″ and 8″.  This now leaves me with six panels that measures 4″ x 5-1/4″.  You keep doing this and fill up your clear case with the entire package of DSP.  Then, when you’re ready to create, you can use the whole 4″ x 5=1/4″ piece for the background of the card, or you can cut the piece a number of different ways to create interesting cards that focus on the DSP.  If you look at my template, The blue lines are the cut lines to get the 4″ x 5-1/4″ pieces.  Then in each of these panels you’ll see other lines drawn in pen and they are numbered.  I did this so you can compare the template drawings and numbers with the corresponding card.  Oh yeah, remember that 12″ x 1-1/2″ strip that was left over when we cut our panels?  Look at the bottom of the template, I used that strip for some of the cards too.

So let’s go ahead and take a look at the 12 cards I created using the Perennial essence Designer Series Paper.

You can see how each card has it’s own unique look to it even though the same DSP was used.  I just used various colors for the card bases, ink and accessories as well as different sentiments for each card.  I’d love to hear what you think of the Love it Chop it method and the template I created for these cards.

Bird Ballad Suite- Day 4

Today is the 4th and final day of my Bird Ballad Suite of cards.  I’ve been featuring all of the products from this suite all week long and today I’ve got this fun fold card for you.

Stampin' Up! Free as a Bird stamp set, Bird Ballad Suite, Stampin' Studio

The base of this card is a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Pool Party.  On top of that I attached a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White that I embossed with the Eyelet Lace Embossing Folder.

Next is a 2-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Old Olive which is scored and folded in half at 4-1/4″. I attached a 2-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Bird Ballad DSP to the outside of this Old Olive card front and a piece of Whisper White on the inside for a note to be written on.  This card flap was then attached to the card base.  Now for the stamping!  The birds on a branch from the Free As a Bird stamp set make such a pretty focal point, especially when its die cut with the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  After stamping it in Memento ink, I colored it with Stampin’ Blends Markers and layered it on a Pool Party die cut with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I also used Dimensionals to attach the die-cuts to the front of the Old Olive card flap.  I finished the card off with one of the Bird Ballad Trinkets tied with the Mossy Meadow Linen Thread from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my 4 part Bird Ballad Suite Series
