Bird Ballad Suite- Day 3

Honestly, I can’t get enough of the Bird Ballad Suite, especially the Designer Series Paper.  The entire background of this paper is on of the prints in the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper Pack.  Of the products in the suite, so far I’ve shown you the Free As a Bird stamp set, the Stitched Nested Labels Dies, The Scallop Laced Ribbon, the Designer Paper and the Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards & Tin.  You can view the previous cards in this series by clicking below.

Bird Ballad Suite Day 1

Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Card

Today’s card features the Stitched Nested Label Dies that create a window to the inside of the card.  I started with a So Saffron card base and added a 4″ c 5-1/4″ piece of Bird Ballad DSP to the front.  Next I opened the card up and placed the die on the front of the card only and ran it though my die cutting machine, and just like that we’ve got a window in the card!  A 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White was attached to the inside so that I could stamp the sentiment and leaves on it with Memento ink.  The bird and the flower were stamped on a scrap of Whisper White and colored with Stampin’ Blends.  The flower was colored in with Light Daffodil Delight and Dark Mango Melody then cut out with Paper Snips and attached to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  To achieve the shading on the bird, I colored his chest with Light Old Olive and his belly with Light Petal Pink making sure to color Petal Pink over the Old Olive.  The body of the bird is Light Pool Party which was also colored over the two previous colors.  Dark Mango Melody finished off his beak.  After the coloring was done I cut him out with Paper Snips.  I decided to cut his feet off because this little guy is sitting on the branch, not standing.

Important Tip:  Stampin’ Blends bleed through to the backside of the Whisper White card stock and I didn’t want the coloring to show on the backside of the bird because when you open the card it would be visible.  So I stamped a second bird and cut it out (but I didn’t color it) and then attached it to the backside of the colored bird.  The bird is positioned on the front of the card with Dimensionals, so that it looks like he’s sitting on the branch.  Do you like the depth I was able to create with the window and positioning the flower and the bird outside the window?

Tomorrow’s card will be a fun Fold featuring the Bird Ballad Suite and we’ll add in the final product from the suite; the Bird Ballad Trinkets!  See you then!

Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Card

Today’s card packs a punch with the lacy Bird Ballad Laser-Cut.  It may look complicated but believe me when I say most of the work is already done for you.  This card is part 2 of my 4 part series featuring the Bird Ballad Suite.

The Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards come in a pretty tin that holds 12 of the lacy laser-cut card bases and 12 scalloped edged Very Vanilla Envelopes.  I added a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the Polka Dotted Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper to the backside of the laser cut front of the card.  The Multi-Purpose Glue make attaching the DSP super easy.  Next I stamped the flower and leaf from the Free As a Bird stamp set on Very Vanilla cardstock with Memento Ink and colored the flower with Light Calypso Coral and Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends.  The leaves are colored in with the light & Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.  Once they were stamped and colored in, I cut them out with Paper Snips and added them to a banner made with the Banner Triple Punch and stamped with the hello sentiment.  The banner, leaves and flower are all popped up off the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Tomorrow’s Bird Ballad Suite card will feature a “window ” card that I really think you’re going to like.  See ya then!

Bird Ballad Suite- Day 1

Last week I held a class that featured the Bird Ballad Suite.  The class featured 4 cards using all of the different elements from the suite:  I adore everything in this suite from the Free As a Bird stamp set, to the Stitched Nested Labels Dies, as well as the Bird Ballad DSP, Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards, Scalloped Lace Trim and the Bird Ballad Trinkets.  These products are gorgeous together but also shine all on their own or when combined with other products.  This week I will be sharing the cards we made at class.  I hope you enjoy them.

For this feminine card, I started with a Thick Very Vanilla card base, then added a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Petal Pink.  Next I attached a 1-3/4″ x 5″ piece of the “floral” Bird Balled Designer Series Paper.  I layered a 2-1/2′ x 3-1/2″ polka dotted piece of the Bird Ballad DSP to a 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ Very Vanilla, then tied the Scalloped Lace Trim into a bow and secured the ends behind the Very Vanilla layer before attaching this to the card front.  The bird image is part of the image that has 4 birds on it.  I stamped it on the Very Vanilla with Memento ink, then cut out the part of the image I wanted with the Stitched Nested Labels Die.  My Stampin’ Blends allowed me to color the image in soft shaded tones.  I used the Old Olive Light & Dark for the leaves, Light Crumb Cake for the branch and Pool Party for the flowers.  To aid in the shading on the bird, i colored his belly with Light Calypso Coral, then took the Light Petal Pink and colored the entire bird, coloring over the belly to help blend the colors.  This was such a quick and easy way to do the shading.  The last bit of coloring was adding Dark Mango Melody to the beak.  Once the coloring was done, i attached the stamped image to another Stitched Nested Label cut from Petal Pink, then popped it off the card with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a thank you sentiment to the lower right corner of the card, but by simply swapping out the sentiment, this card could be used for any occasions from a new baby, to a birthday, to get well and even a sympathy card.  Tomorrow, I’ll share a card that features the Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards along with the Free As a Bird stamp set and some of the Bird Ballad DSP.  See you then!
