Heartland stamp set brings back a touch of days gone by

Can I just say how much I like this card?  I love the neutral tones and simplicity of the layout.  It features the Heartland stamp set which is NOT retiring!  YAY!  This is one of those stamp sets that you can use over and over again and not tire of it.

I’ve got a few little tips for recreating this card.  To get the grain on the Crumb Cake piece to really show up, I ran it through the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder than rubbed the Soft Suede Ink Pad directly on the card stock.  For the soft oval that the barn is stamped on, I used a scrap piece of card stock and cut an oval out of it using the Layering Ovals Framelits to create a mask.  I didn’t use the oval but rather the piece it was cut from.  I stamped the barn  on the Very Vanilla cardstock in Early Espresso ink.   Next I laid the “mask” over the barn so that the barn was visible through the oval opening in the mask.  Using Crumb Cake ink and a Sponge Dauber, I rubbed ink over the barn through the oval.  This results in a very soft oval image.

Heart Happiness and Sweet & Sassy Framelits

Shannon West, from the Stampin’ Up! home office attended our Stampin’ Sister’s Retreat last month and sent me this sweet thank you card.  I love that it uses the Heart Happiness stamp set and the Sweet & Sassy Framelits, two products that make you think Valentines, but as you can see, they’re totally appropriate for a Thank You card too.  Sad to say both the Sweet & Sassy Gramelits and the Heart Happiness are on the retired list.  If you want them get them before they’re gone!

The card is Calypso Coral with another layer of Calypso Coral on top which measure 5″ x 3-3/4″.  She wrapped some Peekaboo Peach Bakers Twine around that layer before attaching it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The whisper White strip that’s stamped on measures 2″ x 4-1/4″.  The solid hearts are stamped in Peekaboo Peach (another retiring product) and the center heart is stamped with Calypso Coral and cut out with the Sweet & Sassy Framelits and popped up with Dimensionals.  Finally she finished it off with the banner and a few rhinestone Jewels.

Charming Cafe Bundle is retiring

Yesterday I posted the list of products retiring as of May 31st.  The harming Cafe stamp set and coordinating Cafe Builder Framelits are one of the bundles that will be retiring.

This pretty little anniversary card has no layers, it’s just a simple Thick Whisper White card base, but the uniqueness of the card is that it has a peak through opening.  I stamped the “wreath” in Memento Ink on the front of the card, then opened the card up and cut out the opening with a die from the Cafe Builder Framelits.  Next, I stamped the cafe table and chairs on the inside along with the sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  I colored everything in with Stampin’ Blends and wrapped a piece of the Berry Burst Metallic-Edged Ribbon around the front of the card.  IN the lower corners of the card I attached some of the elements from the Glitter & Epoxy Shapes that I colored with Stampin’ Blends.
