Making waves with Detailed Santa Thinlit Dies

Yesterday I shared a shaker card made by my friend Gail using the Detailed Santa Thinlits Dies You can view that post HERE and I promised to share another card using the same thinlits die but in an unusual way.  Check it out!  Gail was making waves with the Detailed Santa Thinlits Dies.  The waves that the sail boat are sailing on is actually Santa’s beard!

scrap for boat

Serene Scenery DSP: (Cut 2) for waves and frame

Pacific Point:  Scrap for the die cut word

Daffodil Delight: Scrap for sun

I am so madly in love with the rolling waves in this card.  They were cut from the Serene Scenery DSP and layered on another piece of the same print for the background.  This layer was attached to the card base.  The sails of the boat were stamped and sponged around the edges for a weathered look and fussy cut out.  The sun comes from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits and the die cut sentiment  is cut from Sunshine Wishes Thinlits and the stamped sentiment comes from the coordinating Sunshine Sayings stamp set.  Let your creativity go and see what you can create with the Detailed Santa Thinlits.  I’ve got one more creative idea with the Detailed Santa Thinlits which I’ll show you tomorrow.

Shaker Card using the Detailed Santa Thinlits Dies

At our team meeting a few weeks ago, I had asked a few team members to create displays using a new product for their choice.  Gail Diss agreed to help out and she picked the Detailed Santa Thinlits Dies.  You will be amazed with the creative projects she made with this die.  I’ll be showing all of those over the next few days, but today’s card is a shaker card using the Detailed Santa Thinlits Dies and the coordinating Greetings from Santa stamp set.

Shakers cards are so much easier than you might think now that we have the Foam Adhesive Strips.  Here’s how you do it.  Cut the Detailed Santa from the Whisper White card stock and turn it over to the back side and using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue (also referred to as Green Glue, because the bottle has a green lid) attache the Window Sheet to the Detailed Santa piece.  Next using White Stazon stamp on the front of the window sheet with the sentiment from Greetings from Santa.  Now here is where the magic happens with a shaker card….turn the piece over to the backside again and using the Foam Adhesive Strips make a frame along the outside edge of the window sheet so that you can’t see the foam from the front.  Do not remove the backing from the strips yet.  Now put a few pinches of White Mica Flakes on the window sheet inside the “frame” you made.  The final step is to carefully remove the backing from the Foam Adhesive Strips and attach the card base to the adhesive strips and you’ve got yourself a shaker card.

Be sure to come back tomorrow when I’ll show you an amazing way to use the Detailed Santa Thinlits Dies.  You’re going to love it!
