Country Club Masculine Card Set

One of the things I get requests for all the time is masculine cards.  I find one of the easiest ways to create masculine cards is to use a package of designer series paper with strips, plaids or geometric designs and add the sentiments.  That way you don’t have to make sure the theme of the card suits the interest of the person you’re sending it to.  For example, on today’s card I used the Country Club Designer Series Paper, but what if the  recipient isn’t into golf?  Well, there are 2 sides to every piece of designer paper, so by using the flip side with the argyle print and plaids, this leaves the option of whom to send it to wide open.  This set of 6 cards is another one of the class projects we made while on my Stamp Crop & Cruise Retreat two weeks ago.

For the card bases, I just chose some of the colors from the designer paper, so here we have Night of Navy and Garden Green.

The sentiments on each of the cards is from the Sending You Thoughts stamp set, which is a FREE Sale-a-bration stamp set, yours for the choosing with a $50 order.

The sentiments were punched out using the Tailored Tag Punch.  For the layer behind the Whisper White punched out piece, I simply attached the punched out piece to a piece of colored card stock that matched the card and trimmed a small border around the punched piece for an instant layer that makes the sentiment pop.

Who says you can’t mix patterns?  I love how the Navy Plaid print looks with the Absolutely Argyle Embossed layer behind it.

For this card, we did a bit of paper piecing giving the card a bit of a quilted look.

I am always about layers, textures and embellishments, so on each of the cards, we added three of the Designer Elements.  They come in silver, gold and copper all in one package.

Peaceful Poppies Card set

Here’s another card set we made while on my Stamp Crop & Cruise Retreat.  We had 8 returning stampers on this years cruise, and 7 others that I knew, but the remaining guests were completely new to me.  Since everyone has different stamping abilities, I like to have a variety of types of cards, so this one was a simple set of 5 cards, that features some easy techniques and created stunning results even for less experienced stampers.

I used the Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Cards for the base of the cards.  The fact that they come with matching envelopes was a bonus.  Each card has a layer of cardstock followed by one of the stunning prints from the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper.  Frankly, with this paper, you just can’t go wrong.

This gorgeous print needed nothing more than a simple sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set and a made with the Whisper White Crinkles Seam Binding Ribbon, that was colored with a Stampin’ Blend Marker.

The flowers on this second card were colored in with Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blend Markers and then the whole stamped image was “splattered” with Poppy Parade ink picked up with an aqua painter as shown below.

Card 3 was done similar to card 2, except instead of coloring the flowers with Stampin’ Blends Markers, we used the Aqua Painter to blend colors .

Card 4 features a lovely little scallop die cut from the Painted Labels Dies.  It adds such a cute accent.  Note the Poppy colored ribbon…that’s the same Whisper White ribbon colored in with Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blend Marker.

The final card in this set features more Stampin’ Blends using the color and shading technique to add depth to the stamped image.  Everyone was able to complete these 5 cards in less than 1 hour.

Stamp Crop & Cruise 2020

We’ve been home from my Stamp Crop & Cruise Retreat for just over a week and I feel like I’m finally caught up on things.  I’ve had a chance to look through all my photos from the trip and I wanted to share them with you.

Stamp Crop & Cruise, Stampin' Studio

Dave and I honestly had the BEST time with these folks all week long  We had 5 stampers that had registered but weren’t able to make it…some due to weather in Canada and one due to illness.  So sad they couldn’t join in the fun.  The cruise was a 7 night cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas.  We visited Labadee Haiti, Falmouth Jamaica, and Cozumel Mexico.

We enjoyed three days at sea, where we spent much of the time in the classroom where everyone made 8 class projects that I designed and prepped for them.  I’ve shared the Scrapbook and a set of cards last week.  If you missed them you can see them by clicking on the links below.

Everything is Rosy Cards

We started out the cruise with an informal gathering where everyone got a lanyard and name tag.  Those that attended my cruise last year received the Petal Pink Rhinestone Gems and those that were new to Stamp Crop & Cruise received a package of the Dinoroar Enamel Shapes.  Both of these gifts were wrapped in a cute package, but I forgot to take a picture of them.   Once it was time for class, everyone received a Stamp Crop & Cruise tote bag, which held all 8 of the class project kits as well as the Sending You Thoughts stamp set, a package of Stampin’ Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Multi-purpose Glue and a sponge.

Each day at sea, my stampers also received a stamped muslin bag filled with more goodies to be used on the projects.  By the end of the week they had collected Pearl Basic Jewels, Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape, Crushed Curry Seam Binding Ribbon, Burlap Braided Trim, Petal Pink Metallic-Edge Ribbon, Metallic Baker’s twine & Sequins Combo Pack, Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, and Designer Elements.

We had an opportunity for those attending to sign up and participate in our group card swap.  Nearly everyone opted to participate and they went home with a bunch of stunning cards created by fellow crafters.

We played a Bingo Scavenger Hunt, where they had to take a picture of themselves with something listed on their Bingo scavenger Hunt sheet.  Everyone that got 5 in a row, got a Bingo and won a prize.  On the final day at sea in the afternoon, we gathered for some fun games where everyone had the opportunity to win prizes in the form of over $500 in Stampin’ Up! product.

I made door signs for each of the cabins doors.

This was our cabin which over looked Central Park on the ship,

Some nights we found adorable towel animals on our bed.  These two swans were there for us on Valentines Day.

Now, are you ready to see some views around the ship?

Stamp Crop & Cruise, Stampin' Studio

This is a view looking down on to Central Park from the 14th deck of the ship.  Looking straight ahead you can see the 3 water slides, which of course we had to try each one!

Here’s the Bionic Bar, where you order your drink with an IPad, and the robotic bartenders make it for you.  Its was pretty neat to watch.

Stamp Crop & Cruise, Stampin' Studio

This gorgeous Carousel is on the cruise ship along the Boardwalk.  Can you believe it?

Stamp Crop & Cruise, Stampin' Studio

I’ve made reference to central Park a few times in this post….so here it is.  It is an area in the middle o the ship on the 8th floor where there are walkways and trees and live flowers and i’ts opened to the sky above.

Stamp Crop & Cruise, Stampin' Studio

This is the Royal Promenade on the 5th floor where each night different bands would play.  There are a bunch of stores, bars and restaurants here as well.

Stamp Crop & Cruise, Stampin' Studio

This is the Rising Tide Bar.  The entire bar rises up 2 stories and then comes back down…fun!

Stamp Crop & Cruise, Stampin' Studio

This odd looking structure is called the Ultimate Abyss.  It’s a 10 story slide that goes from the 15 floor all the way to the Boardwalk on the 6th floor.  We did it and it was not scary at all.  Below is a stunning view from the top of the ship looking behind us as we sailed along.

Stamp Crop & Cruise, Stampin' Studio

And finally, we get to some stamping.  This is one of the projects we made on one of the sea days.  It’s a calendar and Post-it Note holder which is collapsible.  I used the Honeybee stamp set and coordinating Detailed Bee’s Dies along with the Golden Honey Designer Series Paper.

If you’ve enjoyed my post and it’s something you’d like to do, I’d love to have you join in the fun for my 3rd Annual Stamp Crop & Cruise.  We’ll be leaving from Fort Lauderdale, Florida next April for another cruise on Oasis of the Seas.  This time we’ll be going to St. Thomas, St Kits & Nevis and Royal Caribbean’s private island they call Perfect Day at Cocoa Cay.  You can find all the details by clicking the link below.
