Dave’s Delightful Daisy Suite Escape

As many of you know, I had back surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago and although my recovery is going great, I wasn’t quite ready to tackle my already planned August Suite Escape class.  Each month I pick a product suite from the catalog and base a class around those products; this month it was the Delightful Daisy Suite featured on pages 126 and 127 of the annual catalog.  My sweet husband Dave stepped up and taught my class last night, so it was Dave’s Delightful Daisy Suite Escape.  He decided stamping would be more fun with wine and chocolate martinis.

Dave's Delightful Daisy Suite Escape

The Delightful Daisy Suite of products includes: the Daisy Delight stamp set, Daisy Punch, Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper, Delightful Daisy Cardstock Pack, Clear and Gold Faceted Gems, and the Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Double Stitched Ribbon.

With all of my Suite Escapes we make 4 cards using the product in the suite and I also include a “Sweet” homemade treat (in addition to Dave providing alcohol).  So I kept with the daisy theme and made daisy shaped cut out cookies, decorated with royal icing, popped them in a cello bag and decorated the bag with a daisy made with the Daisy Punch and added a little banner stamped with a sentiment from Paisleys & Posies that says, “My world is brighter and more beautiful because of you”

I’ll be sharing the cards I designed for the class that Dave taught over the next few days, but I’ll share one last photo of Dave adding up all of the orders from the night.  I heard back from quite a few of those that attended the class saying they had a great time and Dave did great and they loved him in the apron.  That’s my guy…he fully supports me in everything!  He’s the best!

Stampin' Up! At Home With You stamp set, Stampin' Studio

I hate wishing away the days of summer but as I was sitting in our sun room, I noticed some leaves falling from the trees already and it made me think of this card which has a real autumn feel to it.  The stamp set is called At Home With You. This particular image is likely one to be overlooked in the set because the stamp set is all about the front door and decorating it up and I think most of the cards I’ve seen with this set feature the door decorated for Christmas.

With today’s color palette you get a real sense of autumn; add to that some great visual texture with the “speckled”  background from the Touches of Texture stamp set and the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and you’ve got a winning combination.  The final touch is a band of the 1/4″ Copper trim.

Bike Ride

When I was little, we had to ask permission to ride our bikes and then we were then told how many times we could ride to the corner and back.  Generally it was two or three times.  Then the big question for me was, did I want to take all three trips to the corner and back all at once, or did I want to break them up and scatter them throughout the day.  These days I kind of feel like that with the walking I’m required to do after my back surgery 2 weeks ago.  Because of where we live, there aren’t a variety of options in my walking path, and so much of my walking is down to the corner and back (to the tune of 15-20 times a day)…and no I do not do them all at once, I spread them out throughout the day, but each time I get to the corner and turn back around I am certainly reminded of summers many, many years ago!

Stampin' Up! Bike Ride Bundle, Bike Ride stamp set, Build a Bike Framelits, Stampin' Studio

This card reminds me very much of my youth.  I love the Bike Ride stamp set and the Build a Bike Framelits used on this card (and sold in a bundle at a 10% savings).  The Bike Ride stamp set has so many mix and match parts (24 to be exact) so you can add a basket and tassels and really just decorate your bike how ever you’d like.  The set of 15 pieces in the Build a Bike Framelits make this bundle so much fun.    It’s a little hard to see in the photo, but the wheels are die cut separately from the bike which gives it more dimension.
