Masking Technique with Beautiful You stamp set

I came across this card in my stamp room the other day, and I realize I never shared it.  My friend, Nancy Esveld created it using the Beautiful You stamp set found on page 24 of the Occasions catalog.  This stamp set is a must have in my opinion.  There are so many different techniques that can be done with this set, and the sentiments are great for so many occasions.

Stampin' Up! Beautiful you stamp set, Masking Technique, Stampin' Studio

The Beautiful You stamp set is perfect for the masking technique used on this card.  Start out by stamping the dancing woman image using Soft Suede ink on Whisper White cardstock.  Using Blushing Bride and Soft Suede ink and a blender pen, water color the image with light and dark shades.  Next, to create the moon, punch a 1-1/4″ circle from a post it note at stick it on the Whisper White cardstock over part of the image, where  you want the moon to be.  Stamp the dancing woman on a post it note and cut it out.  You will now place this over the image you’ve water colored.  The post-it notes create a “mask” so that you can now color in the sky, water and sand without placing color over the dancing woman or the moon.  Using a Sponge Brayer and Blushing Bride ink roll the color over the sky, going over the post-it note moon and the top of the dancing woman.  Now do the same thing with Soft Sky ink for the water.  The sand is created with Crumb Cake ink and a Stampin’ Sponge.  Now carefully remove the post-it notes to reveal the finished piece.

Basket Bunch Bundle Makes Great Spring Card

Stampin' Up! Basket Bunch Bundle, Spring Card, Stampin' Studio

Saturday the weather here in Wisconsin was simply beautiful.  It was warm, the sun was shining and the birds were singing.  It felt like spring…Sunday…not so much.  It was cold and rainy but you know what they say…April showers bring May flowers.  This card was inspired by the daffodils in my flower garden out my front door.  They’re not in bloom yet, but the leaves and stems are about 6″ tall now.  I shared a sneak peek of this card in my April newsletter, so now I want to share all of the details for it.

I used the Basket Bunch stamp set for the flowers and stems, then I used the coordinating Basket Builder Framelits to cut out the basket, grass, stems and flowers.  Notice too, how I kept with the flower theme and added texture with the Petal Burst Embossing Folder for the background.   I framed the basket of daffodils with the Layering Circle Framelits and popped this up with dimensionals.  I found the “Hello Spring” sentiment in the Crazy About You stamp set.
