Create a Fun Easter Card

Stampin' Up! Hey Chick stamp set, Glimmer Paper, Sale-a-bration 2017, Stampin' Studio

Since Easter is just a few short weeks away, I thought I’d share a fun Easter card.  I used the Hey Chick stamp set, which is one of the free choices during Sale-a-bration.  I also used the Assorted Glimmer Paper Pack .  The Glimmer paper was a free Sale-a-bration choice but it sold out and is no longer available (sorry).  You could replace this glimmer paper with some of the other glimmer paper we offer or with regular cardstock.  Get creative, you can change it up a bit.  My color palette came from the colors in the Glimmer Paper Pack.  The background was created using 3 Sponge Daubers and 3 ink pads.  I inked up the daubers in Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron and Sweet Sugarplum and then “stamped” the dauber on the whisper White card stock and this fun background was born.

I stamped the image and sentiment from the Hey Chick stamp set in Black Stazon on a circle I die cut from the Stitched Shapes framelits. Next, I colored the egg with a Bermuda Bay Stamp & Write Marker and the feet with Daffodil Delight.  I wanted to keep the focal image pretty simple, because there’s a lot going on with the background and all of the glittering circles.  The final accent is the sweet little bow which was tied with the Bermuda Bay Thick Baker’s Twine.

Stampin’ Studio Tips

  • Tip:  To create the Sweet Sugarplum “circle ring”, I punched out a circle using the 1-1/4″ circle punch.  You don’t use the punched out circle but rather the negative space left in the cardstock.  I then used the 1-1/2″ circle punched and punched just outside of the 1st circle in the cardstock that was remaining.
  • Sizes: Bermuda Bay cardstock base is 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″.  Whisper White cardstock is 4″ x 5-1/4″.

Candle Border Punch is Awesome

Stampin' Up! Designer Tee stamp set, Sale-a-bration 2017, Candle Builder Punch, Stampin' Studio

Here’s an idea for a fun birthday card.  I used the Designer Tee stamp set, which is one of the FREE Sale-a-bration choices.  I added a row of “punched out candles” using the Candle Border Punch.  I’ll admit, I didn’t think this punch was a “must have” until I played with it.  OMG, I love it.  Instead of keeping all of the little candles that punched out of the cardstock, I used the negative are of the cardstock and slipped a piece of cardstock behind it to highlight the row of candles.

I stamped the image in Basic Black on a square that I die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Next, I stamped the same image on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock using Daffodil Delight ink.  I did a little fussy cutting around the cake and popped it up off the card using a Stampin’ Dimensional.  I couple of this strips of Designer Series Paper from the Neutral and Bright Designer Series Paper Stacks added the last little bit of festive fun to the card.

Stampin’ Studio Tips

  • Tip:  Highlight the focal image, which in this case is the stamped image, by layering framing the image with the Stitched Shapes Framelits and then adding a matted layer behind.  This makes the image pop!
  • Sizes: Daffodil Delight cardstock base is 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″.  Basic Black cardstock is 4″ x 5-1/4″ and 1-7/8″ x 1-7/8″.  Whisper White cardstock is 3-3/4″ x 5″.   Basic Black striped DSP and Daffodil Delight striped DSP is 1/2″ x 2″.

Celebrating Fancy Aunt Mickey with Delicate Details

Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration 2017,Delicate Details Falling in Love DSP, Stampin' Studio

Over the weekend we had a celebration of life for my Aunt Mickey who passed away on March 1st.  As a child, my sister Peggy and I referred to her as”fancy” because of the slippers she’d wear around the house.  They would always either have feather boas or gold trim and sparkles and her toe nails were always painted so pretty.  This card seemed fitting for my fancy Aunt Mickey.  The soft and subtle background is a piece of the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper.  I then stamped sentiment from Rose Wonder and the rows of images from the Sale-a-bration stamp set called Delicate Details in Versamark and heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.

Here you can see all of the details in the rows of “lacy” images from the Delicate Details stamp set. I then added just a simple piece of the Gold Satin Ribbon.

Stampin’ Studio Tips

  • Tip:  When heat embossing, be sure to rub the Embossing Buddy over the paper first.  This helps to remove static from the paper and will prevent the Embossing Powder from sticking to the paper in areas where you don’t want it.
  • Sizes: Sahara Sand cardstock base is 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″.  Falling in Love Designer Series paper is 4″ x 5-1/4″.
