Make it Monday: Drapery Fold

I received this lovely thank you card from my friend and team member Wendy Tikk.

Drapery Fold

I LOVE how she created the vintage tea pot using the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper and the Cups & Kettles Framelits Dies (which have sold out and are no longer available) but I know the big question I’m going to get asked is how did she do that fold on the bottom.  The fold is called a drapery fold and I’m going to share it with you.

For the Drapery Fold you will need a piece of card stock or designer series paper cut 8″ long x 2 3/4″ high.

Drapery Fold

Using the Simply Scored Tool score it at 2 1/4″,  2 3/4″,  3 3/4″,   4 1/4″,   5 1/4″,  5 3/4″,  6 3/4″, 7 1/4″

Now draw a diagonal line on the bottom edge from the 2 1/4″ score line the the edge of the paper at 1 1/2″.

Drapery Fold

Cut paper off at diagonal line.

Secure each fold with snail adhesive and attach to the card.

Garden in Bloom Masked

Do you remember the technique called Masking?  You simply lay a piece of sticky note over part of the card stock to block out some of the card stock.  Then you stamp your images, remove the sticky note mask and have a black space.

Garden in Bloom

That’s what was done on this card featuring the Garden in Bloom stamp set.  Once the mask was removed there was a nice clean space to stamp the sentiment.  This card also has some splatters from Gorgeous Grunge and a border detail from Tin of Cards.

Lovely as a Tree

Here’s a tribute to the most popular stamp set in the history of Stampin’ Up!….Lovely as a Tree

Lovely as a Tree

The row of trees was stamped on water Color Paper with Stazon Ink.  The Aqua Painter is what allowed for the  variations of color behind the trees.  It’s a color wash of water mixed with ink from the lid of the stamp pad.  Mint Macaron was used for the grass, Watermelon Wonder for the second color and So Saffron for the third color.  When flooding the water color paper with water and ink be sure to blend the colors from one to the next on the paper.
